Services offered

Pain Management

Individualised care for acute and persistent musculoskeletal pain.

Finding the source of pain

Pain may arise from joints, muscles, tendons, the spine or nerves. A careful history and examination help distinguish the cause. Imaging or other investigations may be recommended when appropriate. Treatment aims to improve function as well as reduce symptoms, rather than simply masking pain.

Treatment options

A plan may combine activity modification, physiotherapy, exercises and medicines. Selected patients may benefit from targeted injections or nerve blocks. The choice depends on the diagnosis, previous treatment and overall health. Not every painful condition requires an injection or surgery.

Follow-up and safety

Response is reviewed over time and treatment adjusted accordingly. Relief may be partial or temporary. Medicines have their own side effects; procedures can cause soreness, bleeding, infection, allergic reactions or nerve-related complications. New weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or severe pain with fever needs prompt medical assessment.
